I woke up inside
a lavender-coloured peony
And washed myself
in the morning dew.
Drank the honeysuckle nectar
for breakfast,
In this tiny world
that I create,
I make the rules.
Born from a dew drop
on the first day of spring,
I emerged on a delicate lily
of the valley leaf.
Dressed in tiny gowns,
mostly pink,
I danced and played,
leaping from bubbles
to pearls,
to coral reefs.
My gossamer wings are
lavender and baby blue,
My hair white as the snow,
adorned with fireflies.
All grown now,
I walk barefoot,
Jumping from flower
to flower for fun.
A princess shouldn’t do that,
But my people love me
like a god.
Here I control
all that is tiny—
The droplets
and the hummingbird’s heartbeat,
The grains of sand
and the rays of the sun,
A snowflake in winter
and the flutter
of the butterfly’s wings
in the spring.
The first sprout
of the seed
and the raindrops
that feed it,
The gigantic ant
and the spider’s silk.
Here, the magic
is little but mighty.
Our world is one
you overlook and ignore;
Our world sustains you—
The pollen grain
and the ladybug’s footsteps,
The spiral of the snail’s shell
was all my doing.
For you to see
your life’s trajectory,
I build small miracles
with the move of a hand—
The whisper of mist
and the honeybee’s buzz.
You can see me
only when you’re calm,
In the mushroom spore
and the glowing plankton,
The veins of the leaf
and sometimes even yours.
When I go on vacation,
my gift is to you—
A tiny seashell
or the cicada’s song,
The shadow of the dragonfly
or the drop of sap.
I put on my glittering skirt
and raspberry gloss.
I shine iridescent
and bring you small wonders,
For the tinier the joy,
the greater the gift.

Thank you for exploring the enchanted world of once upon a fairytale! This tale is shared with all, so feel free to spread the stardust far and wide.
My beautiful Nadia, this poem always fills my heart with sweetness and invites me to pay closer attention to the natural world around me. To be taken on this magical adventure through tiny miracles is such a joy. When life seems dark or confusing, this is the goddess that reminds us of the subtle forms of miraculous beauty that surround us everyday.
Magic is real, it is around us right now, in the way the butterfly flaps its wings, the foamy bubbles that emerge and sparkle on the ocean’s surface to the voice box in a birds chest that allows it to sing a song of majesty, to drops of pearls and the hummingbird’s heart beat.
Thank you for enchanting me and lifting the veil of illusion to remind me that we exist in a magical realm, right now in this very moment.
absolutely gorgeous! this made me think of all the magical things, Thumbelina and the movie Horton Hears a Who, and the often overlooked like spider's silk and raspberry gloss... a hummingbird's heartbeat. What's often unseen and overlooked. You have captured what makes my heart sing Nadia. This was such a joy to read! 🕊️☁️🪄
