the wildflower princess

once upon a time, she danced with blooms and bees and sweetness reigned in the fields

each spring as the snow melts,
the wildflower fairy wakes up from her nap.
her lustrous hair leaves behind tiny seeds of happiness to come.
as she dances and dances, moving the soil,
she spreads around her nourishment
to be manifested in tiny, unlikely bursts of color.

the earth laughs in every corner,
each wildflower a spirit fairy,
singing to the earth, hugging tiny bugs.
a reverie of life created by chance
or by the wildest of fairies’ elaborate plan,
dripped in magical pollen, woven into her yellow dress.

she wears abundant serendipity in her locket.
she carries a magical wand full of honey;
the golden juice drips in a fierce river.
with each move of the wand,
she spreads sweetness and laughter wherever she goes.

she’s the heart of the fields and the joy of your soul,
feeding her beloved bee companions
she kisses them and pets them
with love and with gratitude,
for theirs is the work that keeps earth alive.

in the twilight of blooms and the whispers of nectar,
their hum tells the tale of life itself,
a dance of honeyed dreams on fragile furry backs.
pesticides like poisoned raindrops fall from the skies,
and blooms once vibrant fade,
as climate embroiders a tapestry of dread.

as blooms emerge too early,
and the sun scorches the earth, the rains turn to frost
in this changing world, the innocent bee fairies might get lost.
not busy anymore, they wonder what to do
but fight for each drop of honey, each drop of anything sunny.

it's you, my darling,
that will be their best friend.
keep bees and keep flowers,
keep all hope alive,

and walk toward spring,
